Does a New Zealand bank hold money for a deceased estate? Is it more than $15,000? Or is there land or other property in New Zealand, for that estate?

Do you already have a grant of probate or letters of administration issued by a court outside New Zealand?

Is that from Australia, the United Kingdom, or another Commonwealth country?

If so, you may apply to reseal the grant in New Zealand. Use the form on this page, to start this process efficiently and economically. Our $390 fee includes our work, the High Court fee, GST (sales tax), and our courier back to you of the resealed grant at the end.

All the executors/administrators must be part of the application to reseal the grant, even if we deal with only one person directly.

This form (scroll down) should work on all devices, but sometimes it gets confused (on mobiles). If you encounter problems with ‘submit’ please email a brief message instead to probate@kiwilaw.co.nz.

Once you send us the form (and a copy of the overseas grant), we will prepare documents that we email to you. We require payment of our fee at that point. You get the documents signed, and you send them to us by mail or courier (at your expense). We need the original grant or a certified sealed copy of the original grant. We then deliver the documents to the New Zealand High Court. The court issues a resealed grant and returns the original grant to us. We courier those documents to you (at our expense, covered within our overall fee).

Our $390 fee includes our work, GST (sales tax), the High Court fee ($50), and the courier back to you at the end.

Our client-care information (terms of engagement) that we are required to provide to all clients before doing any work is available here. We can also email it to you on request.
